- Biography
Dr. Hofstetter was born in Los Angeles, California. He received his medical degree at the University of Southern California (USC) in 1993. He completed his internship at LAC/USC Medical Center in 1994. From 1994 to 1999, Dr. Hofstetter was a General Surgery Resident at the LAC/USC Medical Center, the USC University Hospital, and the Kenneth J. Norris Jr. Cancer Center in Los Angeles, CA. He began as Thoracic and Esophageal Fellow at USC University Hospital in 1999 and completed the fellowship in 2000.
Dr. Hofstetter continued training in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and the Texas Heart Institute and upon completing his residency in 2002 accepted a position at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. In 2004, Dr. Hofstetter accepted the position of Assistant Professor at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He was appointed as the Director of the Esophageal Program in 2004 and has strengthened the esophageal program through expansion of the multidisciplinary conferences and clinical research studies.
Dr. Hofstetter is a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of many professional societies including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the General Thoracic Surgery Club, and the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association.
