Biography

Research Interests

Non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, combined modality therapy, mesothelioma.

My major research interest is the use of combined modality therapy (surgery and chemotherapy) in patients with early stage (operable) non-small cell lung cancer. I have led national trials examining the use of chemotherapy given before surgery in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. I am also involved in the planning of national studies focusing on the use of chemotherapy given after complete resection for patients with non-small cell lung cancer. I am active in the American College of Surgery Oncology Group (ACOSOG) Thoracic Committee and the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Lung Committee.

In addition to my activities listed above, I collaborate with the other physicians in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology on our many research protocols.
