- Biography
Dr. Hande is a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of carcinoma of the unknown primary site, phase I drug development, carcinoid tumors, lung cancer and sarcomas. His clinical research interests are in the pharmacology of drugs used in cancer therapy with a focus in the metabolism, elimination, toxicity and efficacy of antineoplastic agents. He is also involved in Phase I studies looking at the toxicity optimal dosing and pharmacokinetics of new drugs or drug combinations.
As Director of the Division's Fellowship Program, he is extensively involved in training physicians to become specialists in hematology and oncology. In this role, Dr. Hande develops and oversees a training program that includes all aspects of clinical hematology/oncology and laboratory-based research opportunities.
In 2003, Dr. Hande was listed as one of the "top doctors" in the nation in America's Top Doctors rankings.
