Antoinette Wozniak’s primary research interests, funded by the NIH, are the development of novel chemotherapy compounds and combinations on lung cancer, and overseeing clinical trials. A Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Wayne State University and Leader of the Multidisciplinary Team for Thoracic Oncology at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan, Wozniak is involved in clinical trial oversight locally and nationally. She is also a member of several ASCO committees. She has won numerous awards including the “Outstanding Teaching Award” four times. Wozniak has authored over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 15 book chapters, and serves as reviewer for numerous journals, including the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Cancer, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Wozniak received her B.S. summa cum laude in Chemistry at Niagara University, New York (1973) and her M.D. (1977) from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine (New York). She completed her internship (1978) and her residency (1980) at the Department of Medicine, SUNY at Buffalo Affiliated Hospitals in Buffalo, New York, and was Chief Resident until 1980. Wozniak completed a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology (1983) at the University of Florida (Gainesville).
