New York Mesothelioma Lawyers of Belluck & Fox, LLP, Encourage Donations to Fight Cancer
New York, NY, August 16, 2012 – As part its ongoing efforts to support cancer research and improve care and treatment for mesothelioma victims, the New York personal injury law firm of Belluck & Fox, LLP, has added a new informational graphic and links to cancer charities to its MesotheliomaHelp.net website.
“The graphic provides important facts that show how many lives are affected by cancer in our country, including mesothelioma and other asbestos-related cancers,” said Belluck, a nationally recognized New York mesothelioma lawyer and partner of the law firm, which has offices in New York City, Albany, Rochester and Woodstock.
“Our hope is that visitors to our website will be motivated to donate to a charity that is dedicated to finding a cure for mesothelioma and improving the lives of mesothelioma victims. To encourage those donations, we have provided links to a variety of deserving organizations,” Belluck said.
Mesothelioma is a rare but deadly form of cancer. It is sometimes called
“asbestos cancer” due to the disease’s link to inhaling toxic asbestos dust, most often in the workplace or during military service.
The symptoms of mesothelioma – such as a persistent cough, constant chest pain and shortness of breath – typically surface between 30 to 50 years after exposure to asbestos.
According to Belluck, an estimated 3,000 Americans are diagnosed with mesothelioma each year. There is no known cure for the disease.
“Even though mesothelioma remains difficult to treat, there have been several recent breakthroughs in developing new therapies and methods of delivering medicine for mesothelioma patients,” Belluck said. “People can help make those advances possible by donating to worthwhile organizations, and we hope they will do so after visiting our website.”
The informational graphic on the Belluck & Fox website can be downloaded and shared. The site currently features 11 non-profit organizations dedicated to cancer research and treatment, including the NYU Cancer Center, which recently received a donation from Belluck & Fox, LLP, to help in its mesothelioma research and Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
