Conference on Asbestos and Mesothelioma to be Held in May
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
Co-chaired by renowned physicians Samuel Hammar, MD, Director of Diagnostic Specialty Laboratories, Bremerton, WA and Victor L. Roggli, MD, Professor of Pathology, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, the Conference on Asbestos and Mesothelioma brings together some of the world’s best known asbestos researchers, physicians, and scientists.
Often called “asbestos cancer,” mesothelioma is highly aggressive and is resistant to many standard cancer treatments. Currently there is no known cure for mesothelioma, and the average survival time varies from 4 – 18 months after diagnosis.
Over 19 physicians with expertise in the treatment and research of mesothelioma will be on hand. Presentations focus on advances and research in mesothelioma treatment, and include topics such as:
- Developments over the past 20 years
- Pathology of pleural, peritoneal and pericardial mesothelioma
- Asbestos fibers in lung, pleura and other organs
- How asbestos causes mesothelioma
The conference will be held in Las Vegas on May 3-4, 2010.
